Flag of Septempontia

From SeptemWiki

The present flag of Septempontia was adopted in early 2008. The colors blue, red, and gold were chosen because of their prominence in the history of Triparia and Grønbjerg. The cross is a nod to the traditional Order of the Silver Cross of Grønbjerg, now in gold as if to tie the future to the past. The flag's design was chosen as a bold yet simple combination of these elements.

It was desired not only to "rebrand" generally but to produce a simpler and more elegant flag than the previous design.

Construction

Detailed construction diagram

The flag has an overall 3:5 height-to-width ratio.

The yellow stripes are one-seventh the width of the blue and red bars; thus the whole height of the flag can be divided into 23 (7 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 7) units.

The cross is square, and is four-fifths the height of the red bar.

Working out all those proportions to the smallest whole-number values:

  • Overall width: 575 units
  • Overall height: 345 units
  • Height of narrow stripes: 15 units
  • Height of wide bars: 105 units
  • Height and width of cross: 84 units
  • Outline of cross: Defined by the intersections of circles with radius 84 units, located directly up, down, left, and right of the center of the flag, the center of each being 91 units from the center of the flag, and with a square 84 units on a side, centered on the flag.

Colors

The colors of the flag are represented in hexadecimal and in HSB (hue, saturation, brightness) values thus:

Color Hex HSB
Blue #0000B0 (240, 100, 69)
Red #CC0000 (0, 100, 80)
Yellow or Gold #FFDD00 (50, 100, 100)
