Arms of Grønbjerg

The arms of Grønbjerg date back to the time of the First Imperium; their present form was codified in the Law on National Symbols (Flag and Arms), 2010. The law gives the official blazon as Per pile reversed azure and vert overall an eagle displayed or langued gules bearing upon its breast the inescutcheon Azure a cross pattée encircled by a vol or. (A vol is a pair of wings conjoined in lure with the tips upward.) The law also specifies that the eagle and the shield on its breast form the Lesser Arms, which appear on the flag of Grønbjerg.
The government of Grønbjerg frequently displays an elaborated achievement of arms, with the shield ensigned by the princely coronet and encircled by the Order of the Silver Cross and branches of oak and laurel. The Prince of Grønbjerg also uses this version of the arms, with the addition of a crossed sceptre and marshal's baton behind.

The cross-and-vol symbol which appears as an inescutcheon on the arms was the emblem of the First Imperium and was revived in the Second; it has been borne ever since by the House of Grønbjerg, which was the imperial house of the First Imperium, and has become probably the most widely used and recognized symbol of Grønbjerg.
